My Inspiration

Back when I was in high school, I showed an interest in my family history while visiting my grandparents in upstate New York. My Grandpa Pierce had been corresponding with a newphew of his about the Pierce family and he shared all of the information he had with me. My Grandfather was a teacher and I think he saw a spark in me and did everything he could to help me learn about our family. I remember one specific time sitting around the kitchen table, where the family would sit and talk for hours, he showed us his grandfather's discharge papers from the Civil War. That was it for me. The sense of a real connection, in my family, to such a historical event was amazing. So, needless to say, all of the information gathered here is presented in honor of my Grandpa Pierce.

The Family Tree

I’m trying to make this presentation as interactive as possible. More information and formats are coming, but for now, here’s what you can find:

• The Pedigree Charts start with my children, Connor & Maille, and show my primary lines as far back as I can go. These are a great way to see how multiple generations of people “fit” together.
• The Family Group sheets are good for seeing an entire family. It lists all of the children of a family, which are not included in the Pedigree Chart format.
• Lastly, the Surname Index, lists everyone I have included in any of the previous formats alphabetically by last name. For each person, there’s a link to each page that references them.

I am publishing my research by hand, so it’s taking a while to get it all out here. So, if it looks like we have a connection, please ask and I’ll let you know what additional information I have.

Areas of Focus

I’m always interested in any aspect of my family tree, but I am trying to focus my research in these aras right now:

• PIERCE in the Canandaigua, Ontario County NY area
• STEED and SULLIVAN in the Brooklyn, NY area
• STUMP in the Furnace County, NE area
• RENO in the Indianapolis, IN, area
